DNS Lookup

DNS lookup, also known as DNS resolution, is the process of converting a domain name to an IP address. This is necessary because computers and other devices access websites using IP addresses, but people usually remember and type in domain names (e.g., example.com) instead of IP addresses (e.g., 93.184.216.34). When you enter a domain name into a web browser, the computer will first perform a DNS lookup to resolve the domain name to an IP address. It then sends a request to the server at that IP address, asking it to send the web page back to the computer. The server responds by sending the HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other files that make up the website, which the browser then assembles and displays to you. DNS lookups are handled by DNS resolver libraries and DNS servers. When you make a request for a domain name, the resolver library on your computer sends a request to a DNS server to resolve the domain name to an IP address. The DNS server then responds with the IP address, or with an error message if it cant resolve the domain name.
